Alabama marble was used in the creation of this sculpture. I responded well to the first cut, which is so important in determining the future of the piece. The cuts have to be true and on the mark for the image I have in mind to come out of the stone. It didn't cut like butter, but from a sculptor's point of view, it was sweet to work.
