Making Magic 18"x13"x8", Ed. 20 This piece was inspired by the magical imagery of the Tarot. as well as by my many trips to my favorite city: Venice. Most of my work is pretty intuitive, but eventually I discover where my creative spark is leading me. This piece was inspired by the magical imagery of a Tarot deck I was given. Most of my work is pretty intuitive, but eventually I discover where my creative spark is leading me The earlier versions of the fool card represented already-fallen humanity, over-identified with the material plane of existence, and beginning a pilgrimage towards self-knowledge, and eventually, wisdom. In days of yore, the jester was the only person in the kingdom who could get away with insulting the king to his face .Responsible only for royal entertainment, the jester was without the ambitions of other courtiers, of whom the king had to be constantly wary. A jester's words could be taken as amusing nonsense, even when it was far from that. The Fool reminds us to recognize the path of personal development within ourselves -- and the stage upon that path where we find ourselves -- in order to energize our movement toward deeper self-realization .The eyes and the lips on the figure represent an inner, searching self. The Jester is about of searching with both the mind and heart My Magic Fool is a guide to the more daring , creative and adventurous parts of ones life voyage, and to the places that lead to inner growth and satisfaction.
