| The artworks that were destroyed in the September 11, 2001 attacks include close to 250 original
Rodin bronzes, marble sculptures and drawings all part of the collection of Cantor Fitzgerald, a global securities firm that was headquartered at the WTC. The company's gallery and offices were located on the 105th floor of the North Tower. 600 of the company's approximately
1,000 workers in New York are missing.
The damage to public art in and around the WTC has been estimated to be in the neighborhood of $10 million. The art lost includes: a red, 25 foot sculpture by Alexander Calder; a wood relief by Louise Nevelson from the mezzanine of One World Trade Center; a Roy Lichtenstein painting from his Entablature series that was in Seven WTC; and a Joan Miro 1974 tapestry at Two WTC. The Art Newspaper also reports that a Ross Bleckner hummingbird stripe painting was also destroyed.
