30ft-high eyeball sculpture by Tony Tasset |
Ever had the strange feeling that you're being watched? It's not exactly a hidden eye. Visitors in Chicago pass a 30ft-high eyeball sculpture by Tony Tasset that has been unveiled at Pritzker Park. Tasset has previously worked on a smaller version of the sculpture, which was only 12ft high. He worked with half a dozen fibreglass specialists to complete the project - which he named simply Eye.Tasset says he wants his public artwork to speak to both "intellectuals" and average Joes. "With every piece, I'm always negotiating how much the audience can handle - what they like, what they don't like." |
I think Tony Tasset understands sculpture in a way that attracts attention - an eye, most all of us have them, now we get to think about them in ways we may not normally think of them. Thank you to Tony Tasset and all involved in helping us all to break out of everyday! |
Chicago's latest public art installation is "Eye", a 30 foot tall eyeball sculpture by Tony Tasset, modeled after his own eye. It will be on display through October 31st. Chicago Tribune made a video about Tony and his "Eye" sculpture. |
