The Wit Gallery

LENOX, Mass. - The Wit Gallery Launches 2nd "Art of Giving Winter Charity Campaign".

For the second year in a row, The Wit Gallery at 27 Church St. and its artists are working together to help ease some of the hardship being felt by both local and national charities and nonprofit organizations because of the economic downturn.

Throughout the winter, the gallery will offer select pieces by each participating artist at a discount and top off the savings with a donation made to the artist's favored charity in the purchaser's name. More than 20 artists have selected the following charitable organizations:

The Alzheimer's Association, Berkshire Food Project, Cultural Arts Alliance of Hopkinton, Autism Speaks, Doctors without Borders, Good Samaritan's Fund of Berkshire County, Hevreh of South Berkshire, SHARE, Massachusetts Coalition for Homelessness, National Public Radio, Northeast Regional Food Bank and St. Judes Childrens Hospital. More organizations are added each week as more artists sign on to participate.

Artists involved include:

Michael Alfano (see below image), Anthony Ardavin, Scott Barrow, Kim Bernard, William Braemer, Paul Chojnowski, Gartner & Blade, Joe Goodwin, Scott Gordley, Philippe Guillerm, Susanne Howes-Stevens, Stanley Marcus, Madonna Phillips, Lenore Robins, Barbara Scavotto-Earley, Carol Staub. More are added each week.

The goal of the program is to help others while generating interest in the gallery's artists, their work and the communities that they come from. The campaign runs through March 31st.

Cubed is a sculptural puzzle in nine pieces, each in a different skin tone. It forms two faces: a male on one side and a female, inverted, on the other side. You can rearrange the sculpture to make interesting abstract designs, and even fun seating and tables.
