The artist from Chicago, whose sculpture "Tussle," was entered in ArtPrize 2010, was a contestant Tuesday evening and carried the day to become the new Jeopardy champion. "I thought I was just blowing it left and right, frankly," he said with a laugh afterward. Garner, who said he tried four times previously to get on the show before succeeding on his fifth time, is scheduled to return tonight. In West Michigan, tune in at 7:30 p.m. tonight to WWMT-TV (Channel 3). On Tuesday, Garner, a Native American of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, bantered with host Alex Trebek. Garner gave his name in his native language, and Trebek replied in Lakota. How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! Champ? "It's great," Garner said. "Actually after passing the audition a lot of times and never getting called, finally to get called, is really special. It's really wonderful." |
