Rory Breslin Sculpture

The busts of the leaders of the 1916 Rising here in Ireland. The men were the seven signatories of the Irish Proclamation.

The men depicted from left to right are: Pearse, Connolly, Clarke, MacDonagh, MacDiarmada, Plunkett and Ceannt respectively.

The busts are slightly over life-size, bronze, dated 2009 and an edition of 7. The edition number was symbolic of the number of men.

One edition went to auction at the start of this year at Adams (the Irish version of Sothebys) auctioneers in conjunction with Bonhams of London here in Ireland. The edition sold and subsequently all the editions were sold also. Rory's understanding is that the National Museum here in Ireland will have an edition donated to them.

Spatial Thoughts on Sculpture by Bill West
Very nicely executed set of busts in bronze by Rory Breslin. Rory has created a number of figurative public sculptures that are exemplary. Nice to see his edition of the seven busts is sold out - that sure says a great deal about execution of message and design.
