| kare11.com "Uff da Palace" built of sticks unveiled Saturday CHANHASSEN, Minn. -- The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum unveiled a new creation dubbed the "Uff da Palace" Sunday and the entire sculpture is built out of branches. Environmental sculptor Patrick Dougherty has worked with 80 volunteers and Arboretum staff since May 3 to build the sculpture. It is built out of thousands of willow twigs, branches and saplings woven and twisted together. The Arboretum says no nails or pegs were used to build it. "Uff da Palace" was also built with an intended lean, to make it look like the wind is bending the building. The sculpture will be left up throughout the year and it was designed with a snow covering so visitors can enjoy it during the winter. The Arboretum is 9 miles west of I-494 on Highway 5 in Chanhassen. Admission is $9 for adults and kids 15 and under are free. |
