Sculptor Nathan Mabry to Sean Kelly

Sean Kelly Gallery announced today that it will represent the young Los Angeles artist Nathan Mabry, whose work combines Minimalist hallmarks-he often uses sculptures resembling Judd and Artschwager pieces as pedestals-with forms from Native American and African art.

Mr. Mabry shows at Cherry and Martin in L.A. and Praz-Delavallade in Paris, and will have a one-person exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas in Feb. 2013.

The artist's work has appeared in New York only infrequently-he was in group shows at Gladstone and Haunch of Venison in 2008, and at the now-defunct Bellwether gallery in 2007. The Whitney, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Hammer and the Rubells own his work.

Sean Kelly will present work by the artist at New York's Armory Show fair in March.

Spatial Thoughts on Sculpture by Bill West
So young and yet so brilliant! I just go overboard experiencing Nathan Mabry's sculptures. I could go on and on, there will be more... yes, I'm anxiously waiting for his Nasher Sculpture Center exhibition.
