Michael Jantzen Solar Sculpture |
GreenMuze An energy producing solar sculpture is the focus of a new concept design from American artist and designer Michael Jantzen. Drawing inspiration from the conceptual symbolic representation of the micro energetic interaction between photons of sunlight and the release of electrons within photovoltaic cells, the stunning Solar Energy Field Sculpture is a large three dimensional desert installation that captures energy from the sun and converts it into electricity for the local community. |
A great big shout-out to Michael Jantzen for his creativity and ingenuity on creating a sculpture that is so timely. I'm wondering a little bit whether solar sculpture could be a trend... It just might for sculptures with surface areas that would adapt or lend themselves to creating some green power. |
South-facing panels are covered with high temperature operating photovoltaic film. In full sunlight and exposure, the solar panels generate approximately ten kilowatts of electrical energy for the local grid. |
Several of the lower panels on the structure fold out in different ways to provide places for visitors to sit or lie. There is also a viewing platform so visitors can climb into the Solar Energy Field and enjoy a view of the surrounding landscape. |
