holliston.patch.comFlorida Museum Purchases Holliston Artist's SculptureThe Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum in Orlando recently bought several pieces by Holliston piano artist Michael Frassinelli. Frassinelli's work is currently on display at "The Pianista Universe" exhibit at Studio 370, Holliston High School's art gallery. The closing reception for the exhibit will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15. It is free and open to the public. Frassinelli is an artist who has been making sculpture out of piano parts for the past seven years in a series called "The Legend of the Pianistas." The series includes sculpture and totems, masks and other artifacts such as musical instruments, weapons and other objects that represent historical artifacts from a lost civilization known as the Pianistas. On display at Studio 370 are four figurative sculptures and a 10-foot wigwam made of over 500 piano keys. Also on display at the closing reception will be work by HHS students, whom Frassinelli worked with to create an installation of piano objects that surround the gallery walls. The large structure and two of the figurative works will be purchased by the Ripley's Museum, which is famous for interesting artifacts, strange objects and other oddities. |
