Matt Donovan Sculpture Winning Entry...

Matt Donovan's piece "Harvest Hunter" was selected as the winning entry in the 2010 Fields Project Sculpture Competition.

The picture is the small maquette that I submitted for the contest. The theme of the competition is "Art and Agriculture". Barn owls are one of the species that have benefitted from the opening up of land for agriculture. A bird of open country, and true to its name - barn owls nest and roost in old barns, church steeples and tree cavities. The maquette pictured here is one third the size of the finished bronze. The owl will be approximately 1.5 life sized on the finished piece. The eight foot tall version of "Harvest Hunter" will be an edition of nine, with the number one edition installed in Oregon, IL in summer, 2011.
