Juried Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition and Competition |
Madisonville, KY - If you are an artist or feel you have artistic talents you will want to participate in the first annual Juried Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition and Competition.
The Community Improvement Foundation and the City of Madisonville are partnering in presenting the event. The competition is designed to coordinate with the goals of the NewCities Initiative. The event is being planed to help raise awareness of fine art, raise the standard of a fully integrated community and help improve the overall beauty of the community. Shane Browning, Director of the Community Improvement Foundation says, "The event will include large outdoor sculptures throughout the county-seat of Madisonville." In addition, the city of Madisonville will receive an improvement to one mini-park and the creation of three new mini-parks. The sculptures entered in the event will be located at the Day Lilly Park, a new mini-park on W. Center Street next to the Rail Road Tracks, a new mini-park on Sugg Street, across from West Broadway Elementary School, and a new mini-park being developed by a team of the Leadership Hopkins County on Arch Street which will be located across from the Hopkins County Fair Grounds. The entry's will be on exhibition from May 2010 through February 2011. The competition is open to all sculpture artist. The event will be caped off with a reception on June 5, 2010. Entry fee is $25.00 per artist. Each artist may submit up to three pieces, however; only one piece will be selected by an artist. The event will include three awards; City of Madisonville-Best of Show Award, McCoy & McCoy-first place award, and the US Bank-People's Choice Award.
