Kate Brockman Sculpture

National Sculpture Society | www.nationalsculpture.org

Sculptor Kate Brockman will receive National Sculpture Society's 2011 Alex J. Ettl Grant. The Alex J. Ettl Grant is a certificate and an unrestricted prize of $4000, which is awarded annually to a sculptor for a meritorious body of work. NSS will present the award on June 4th, during our Honors and Awards Dinner, part of our 2011 Sculpture Celebration Weekend.

Brockman demonstrates her passion for sculpture in a variety of ways; she teaches at Pennsylvania Academy College of the Fine Arts, she casts and patinas her work at her own foundry and continually participates in exhibitions and competitions. Brockman finds satisfaction in depicting the figure; she states, "The human figure is fascinating and beautiful, mysterious and sensual; a rich vehicle for communication. Through sculpture, I attempt to use these aspects to express my life experiences, in the hope that they may touch someone. It is an endless quest of exploration, discovery and ultimately exposure to which I have become addicted."

Spatial Thoughts on Sculpture by Bill West
Kate Brockman's sculpture has such a timeless feel or perception, very well done. There is such a human feel to it! She is so deserving of the Alex J. Ettl Grant! Thanks to Elizabeth Helm and the National Sculpture Society for sending this to us here at SculptSite.com.
