By KEVIN CANFIELD Tulsa World Staff Writer The RiverParks Authority board of trustees voted Thursday to add to the trail system a third monument from sculptor Jocelyn Russell. "Pheasant Eludes Bobcat," an 11 1/2-foot bronze statue, depicts a bobcat stretched high in the air with a male pheasant flying just out of reach. It is scheduled to be erected May 6 at approximately 66th Street and Riverside Avenue. The monument is the 14th donated to RiverParks by NatureWorks. The nonprofit conservation group has donated 20 monuments in Tulsa since 1994. "I want to thank them profusely," Matt Meyer, RiverParks Authority executive director, said after the trustee meeting. "The value of these are tremendous, and there are some people who come to RiverParks just to see these sculptures." Russell's other works in RiverParks include "Prairie Wolves" at 42nd Street and Riverside Drive and "Wichita Wapiti" at 63rd Street and Riverside Drive. |
