Jeff Koons' Popeye Sculpture Series |
For his third solo exhibition in France - which opened yesterday at Paris' Galerie de Jerome Noirmont and runs through November 20 - Jeff Koons presents different works from his Popeye series. The idea for this series began back in 2002, when Koons was inspired by the sight of a tree growing through a chain-link fence. According to the press release, the resulting works are "unlikely encounters between inflatable objects and inanimate ones, between leisure items which in our consumer society are symbols of desire, and industrially produced functional objects." |
