The Mountain TimesVisiting sculptor lecture Nov. 4 at TCVAAppalachian State University's Turchin Center for the Visual Arts will hold a public lecture with visiting sculptor Greg Bailey on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Turchin Center Lecture Hall. This event is free and open to the public. Bailey will be speaking on his exhibition, "Perspectives in Bronze," which is currently on display at the Turchin Center through Nov. 13 and also includes works by Michael Warrick. Bailey will also be participating in multiple projects within Appalachian's Department of Art and will be attending the Turchin Center's Fall Exhibition Celebration on Nov. 5 from 7-9 p.m. About the Exhibition "Perspectives in Bronze" presents works by sculptors Greg Bailey and Michael Warrick and demonstrates the multifaceted qualities of bronze through works that contrast and complement one another. Bailey holds his MFA in sculpture from the University of Hartford and works in a diverse range of sculptural materials, including bronze, steel and fiberglass. Warrick is a professor of sculpture at the University of Arkansas and has been a visiting artist, artist-in-residence and lecturer at 92 institutions and has installed outdoor sculptural works in over 15 states. About the TCVA The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts presents exhibition, education and collection programs that support Appalachian State University's role as a key regional educational, cultural and economic resource. The Turchin Center is located at 423 West King St. in downtown Boone. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Friday. The center is closed Sunday and Monday, and observes all university holidays. There is no admission charge, although donations are gratefully accepted.
