| Korn Gallery to feature Porcaro sculpture exhibit MADISON, NEW JERSEY - The Korn Gallery on the campus of Drew University, 36 Madison Ave., Madison, New Jersey will exhibit the "Mystic Mavericks" sculptures of Don Porcaro, on view from Friday, Feb. 5, through Friday, March 5. The gallery is located in the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts at Drew University and is open from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and by appointment. Porcaro's "Mystic Mavericks" explore the whimsical possibilities embodied in ideas of animation and contemporary cultures. Whether evoking the dark humor of Bosch or the fluidity of Japanese anime, Porcaro said his sculptures are based on the ability to experience a childlike wonder. Porcaro received a master's of fine arts degree in sculpture from Columbia University, New York City, where he lives and teaches at Parsons, The New School for Design. Porcaro has received awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts. |
