Deedee Morrison Sculpture

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Art on the Corner Grand Junction, CO, - May 20, 2011 - A new sculpture bringslight and color to Main Street

April Charms was created based on the idea of contrast - two very different things that are inter related. Contrasts that are not contradictory, but rather complementary are especially intriguing to artist. Symbols, such as unevenly balanced objects joined by chains, causes viewers to inwardly ask the question, "What am I bound to?" Long forgotten or recent memories are the tethers that bind us and are a signi.cant component of who we are. The varied and dynamic events, places, people, and things that have touched us inform our future choices, commitments, habits, and journeys.

The 8' x 8' aluminum incorporates a limestone rock as its anchor. The aluminum panels have been laser cut and welded together to create charms pendants for the rock. Clear Lexan is riveted to the structure under the intricately patterned cutouts and painted from the inside to achieve radiant colors. An interior light illuminates the sculpture at night.
