Global LethbridgeFreedom Tree raised on top of Kelowna Yacht ClubA Kelowna addiction recovery program has launched a unique fundraising campaign. A sculpture called the "Freedom Tree" was placed on top of the Kelowna Yacht Club Wednesday morning. The purpose of the artwork is to help raise awareness and money for Freedom's Door, an alcoholism and drug addiction recovery organization in Kelowna. The non-profit is seeking to raise $50,000 by selling 10,000 tickets through the Silk Tie Recovery Raffle, which ends in December. Freedom's Door houses up to 40 men for a minimum of 90 days while they overcome their addictions and get their lives back on track. Artist and welder Darcy Langhorn built the sculpture with the help of Tom Smithwick, who helps run the recovery program. |
A great way to utilize the power of sculpture to send a message. Kudos to all involved with the project! |
