Bill Vielehr Sculpture - Greeley Colorado |
TheTribune Periodically throughout June and July, The Tribune will feature a different piece of art that is part of Greeley's Sculpture on Loan Program. In 1995, the Greeley Art Commission started the program, and the city now owns 27 sculptures that have either been purchased by the city or donated by Greeley-area artists. The commission solicits art to be on display for one year in public areas and parks. Eighteen Sculpture on Loan pieces are on display this year as a part of the program, and at least one has a chance to become a permanent part of Greeley's art scene. As in the past, residents can vote on their favorite, and the piece that gets the most votes will be purchased by the city for permanent display. Online voting for Sculpture on Loan pieces began July 5. You can also submit your vote at the Greeley Arts Picnic on July 24-25 at the Greeley Arts Commission booth.
