Bernice Garden Sculpture Project |
KATV News by Stephanie Healy,
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS - The Bernice Garden in downtown Little Rock is hosting a sculpture competition for artists where the winner(s) will have their outdoor sculpture exhibited for a year at the garden. Competitors are only allowed to enter one design per person/team. Artists can choose to individually enter or submit their proposal with a team. The artists or artists' teams do retain ownership of the artwork. Five sculpture proposals will be exclusively selected, and the stipend per artwork is $2,800 with an additional design fee of $200 for the finalists' development of a model for the proposal. Contestants' budgets must include all design fees, materials, construction, installation, removal, maintenance and liability insurance. The Bernice Garden Sculpture Project selection committee is seeking propositions representing or reflecting the spirit, nature, and history of Arkansas. Projects may also celebrate the sense of community and neighborly interaction or be playful and whimsical. Materials used can be traditional or alternative. Artworks must be able to stand up to the elements, interaction and potential vandalism and should be maintenance free. The Bernice Garden Sculpture Project deadline is 5 PM on March 31.
