2010 will be year of great changes. The biggest may be the move of my studio to a new location in late April. Because of this major event most of the planning of the remaining year is uncertain. Still, there are a few cool ideas and projects up my sleeve. First, just after my departure to the USA next Tuesday for a business trip- the crate I packed last summer in Xingyang province in China will finally arrive. The 2 ton box contains sculptures in progress, rough marble rock, Olympic sculpture park catalogues and tools. But what thrills me most- it also contains 5 larger pieces of coal to sculpt.

I cannot tell you how exited I am about the arrival of this coal.- Because the concept about our living environment at risk embedded in this body of work started 12 years ago and commenced with 2 small chunks of coal, which I collected with my London based artist friend and collaborator Henrietta Hine www.henriettahine.com 2006 in the Blake Mesa mine in Arizona. (see attachment) Later, during my stay for the production of my sculpture for Olympia in Beijing I found two more usable pieces of coal, which I showed last year at my solo exhibit in Aventoft, Germany. This past summer after several weeks of investigation and strive I managed to get a hold on several big pieces of coal on the outskirts of Urumunqi, Xingyang. This happy find proofed to me that even car sized sculptures in this material will be possible. But for now my goal with the arriving assembly is to create a group of inter- relating coal sculptures installed in one room. As for how and where and when they will be realized- I am only guessing.
