Annette Everett

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - In the 2010 version of the annual Art Around the Corner exhibit Annette Everett will show a piece titled "The World Is Mine." This piece depicts a boy and a girl perched atop a globe of the world reading books. The various continents on the globe are formed through textured objects such as nuts, bolts and buttons, which Annett says are meant to show that "this world is full."

"It is through reading and education that all the world opens to us," she says, crediting this understanding to the teachings of her mother. "I grew up with this idea that this world is so full of many different things."

Everett says Art Around the Corner is valuable to artists as a prestigious place to show their work. She says it has given her and other artists many opportunities.

"It's an honor to be included in that group," she says. "It gives me a goal to work toward every year."
