A Sculptor, a Steel Magnate and a Bulgari Ring

If you're in the market for a sculpture of gigantic, awe-inspiring proportions, your go-to man is Mumbai born, London based sculptor, Anish Kapoor.

Kapoor has become synonymous with public art installations of profound size. We're talking jaw-dropping pieces that demand we experience art not just by viewing, but by walking around and through it.

Kapoor's work is often simple - curved forms, usually monochromatic and brightly colored. His pieces are geared to engage the viewer, producing awe through their phenomenal size and simple beauty.

And that's precisely what they do, much to the delight of the 1.85 million people who saw his 2002 work, Marsyas, before it was dismantled a year later. The vast, fleshy and trumpet-like Marsyas didn't just fill the London Tate Museum's vast Turbine Hall, it dominated it.

In the U.S., Kapoor is known for the popular giant reflecting, pod like sculpture Cloud Gate in Chicago's Millennium Park. Inspired by liquid mercury, the sculpture is among the largest of its kind in the world, measuring 66-feet long by 33-feet high and weighing 110 tons. Tourists flock to "the Bean" as it's affectionately known, to see the city's skyline and themselves reflected back in its seamless series of highly polished stainless steel plates.

Kapoor has lived in London since the 1970's and is today considered one of the most popular - and wealthy - artists working in Britain. Just ask steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal who has thrown in 25 million of the 30 million dollars required to build the controversial Kapoor commissioned tower for London's Olympic Park. Known as the Acelor/Mittal Orbit, the structure will be slightly taller than Big Ben and the Statue of Liberty and is already drawing comparisons to the Eiffel Tower.

If your budget isn't quite that of Europe's wealthiest man, there's still a chance to own an original Anish Kapoor. Luxury fashion house Bulgari chose Kapoor to interpret its iconic b.zero1 ring. This marks the first time Bulgari has worked with a world-renowned contemporary artist. The result is a limited edition, pink gold and steel, mini work of art.

Now that's something we can get our hands on. Or in this case, get on our hands.
