Little Girl Torn
by Ray Besserdin

Description:

Represents the tragic state of cultural decay in the Australian Aboriginals and their disintegrating communities. It is hitting the young ones, especially girls the most severely with unprecedented levels taking their own lives, as young as ten years old. I wanted to draw attention to the situation because it is happening in remote parts of the continent out of view of the greater population living in the busy cities. It's easy not to notice what's happening in these communities "out of sight, out of mind" but we should be paying attention to help address their problems.
