The stone at the top of the sculpture is a type of limestone that is filled with fossilize sea shells. Gold leaf highlights the center circle. Below stylized shell designs, repeating the shapes in the stone above, have been cut out of stainless steel with a water jet. The color of the body of the sculpture comes from the rust patina in stee.
