Folded? (Basket) is a basket form that has been crocheted with monofilament and natural silk. Although created from a pre-planned drawing, it has ultimately been allowed to find its own natural form, with very little coaxing from the artist. The organic nature of that form is both sensual and calming. One of the interesting elements in all of Leslie's work that exists as well in Folded? (Basket), is that there always seems to have a bit of mystery in the work. Is it hard, is it soft? Is it stiff, or is it malleable? What is the material and how is it made? Looking carefully at the piece does not always answer the questions. Folded? (Basket) allows the viewer to ask these same questions.
