Community
by Leslie Pontz

Description:

The largest piece to date, Community combines materials to make a statement of interdependence and independence. Each pod is unique, and at the same time, completes the whole community. It is crocheted from a translucent white monofilament and each member of the community is filled with spheres of fiber. Other materials are also introduced, such as silk and clay, in order to describe the diversity that can exist in a powerful community. The baskets sit on a bed of shredded rubber to complete the installation.
