Undatus is the Latin name for the night blooming cactus. I carved a 6 foot tall black walnut cactus called Night Bloom that showed the convoluted shapes of these type cacti growing in my yard. My husband suggested I make a table top version. It looks more abstract since it is life size but cut off. Buttonwood is a type of mangrove ( protected ) but this was given to me by a park ranger who had permission to cut it. The wood color and grain is very unique.
