Calla Lily —

To me this piece represents who we are. God, the universe, Mother earth, cares for every living thing on this planet and has provided everything we need for our survival and happiness. From the bible we read “…take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink…behold the fowls of he air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly father feedeth them. And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin…wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field…shall he not much more clothe you…?” (St Matthew 6:25-30) And although our physical form may die and return to the earth, our spirits live on. Looking at the geometry of this piece we can see a tear drop, one of the most powerful and beautiful geometric shapes found in nature; we are beautiful creations of God. And continuing on from the tear drop there is an invisible line which continues around to create an infinity; our spirits will live on for ever. And from the front there is a bud growing into another infinity representing how we will infinitely continue to grow and learn.
