This abstract/organic sculpture was carved from Italian alabaster, which is considerably harder than most other types of alabaster. I left some of the naturally weathered exterior intact because I think that it has an interesting texture that contrasts nicely with the polished, blue interior. It is called 'Spirit of 67' because I incorporated a Canadian Centennial penny into the composition. Also, I'm hoping that it brings my favorite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, good luck; because 1967 was the last year they won the cup. The copper wire was salvaged from a broken-down furnace that used to heat my studio.
