This current sculptural work is new to me and yet has been with me since my beginnings. My first stirrings as an artist have been to make convincing people, figures and heads; either singularly or in groups. The forms have persisted with me as I’ve worked.
Carving wood is new, unforgiving and very exciting. I feel both connected to the figures being carved as well as the material I’m working with. It is the incarnation that best suits me as an artist at this time, and that challenges me and my craft with all the diligence I can muster day to day.
