Larry Lefner reinforces the notion of the ‘artistic visionary’ in his unique styles of crafting wood.  His artwork continually evolves.  He has no niche. (He graduated in eastern philosophy!)  He strives to stay ahead of those who would define him or his style of sculpture.  He contributes an incredibly versatile range of woodworking; a range encompassing nature themes and intriguing characters from fine art to architectural designs.

Many residents of Sun Valley, Santa Fe, and Aspen have collected his artwork in the forty years he has been a professional sculptor.  Since moving to Aspen in 1995, his most notable accomplishments are the nature scenes carved into the walls and beam ends of the Elk Mountain Lodge, the Fly Fisherman Living Tree Sculpture, public art commissioned by the town of Basalt, and the memorial bench in front of the Woody Creek Tavern.

In addition to his classic wood sculpture, Larry has developed his own unique style of sculpture that is a composition of sculpted wood using colorful hardwoods of every variety.  These creations are amazing to view.  Most people think the sculptures are painted, but every color in the sculpture is a different kind - and natural color of wood.
