KRIS-ANN EHRICH

A fascination with sculpture that began in childhood compelled me in adulthood to explore for myself the limitless possibilities embodied in the tactile third dimension of this 'living' art form.   I embarked on a journey that has carried me across an undulating landscape richly populated with figures drawn from the traditions of myth, magic and the intertwining  realms of heaven, earth and the dark, under -towing currents  of the supernatural that are endemic to the human heart.  All are ciphers for the counterpoints of triumph and tragedy, beauty and vulnerability that define the human experience. These qualities never cease to fascinate and inspire an oeuvre in which I strive to capture the vulnerability and fragility that underlie the riddle of our human paradox.
My studies began with Brisbane sculptor Georgette Schwantes in 2004, working mainly in ceramics and I began casting my work in bronze in 2006. Since then, this exciting and challenging medium has added richness, breadth, and expression to my endeavours.
