Blessing Sanyanga Artist Statement

My inspiration comes from day to day life, dreams, imagination and the stones themselves. My sculptures are filled with human culture, wildlife , nature if not filled with feelings . All my sculptures are original and one offs , I work straight into the stone without having to do a model. Only a number of sculptures that I made are created from sketches. In my work to do a sketch it depends on the vision of the creation. I use more of photographic memory from the images of artefacts that evolve in my imagination and sometimes the stone itself will say what it wishes to be, due to its natural features.
