 From urban planning to sculpture, passing by fashion and design. In one word: versatility. A difficult card to play without the mix of engineering competences, instinct for experimentation and visual sensitivity of Daniel Widrig. Following his work for Zaha Hadid and the collaboration with fashion designer Iris Van Herpen – which made the list of 50 best inventions of 2011 according to Time magazine – this year Widrig has worked on new projects using techniques of digital design. Among these is "Fractal Forms" and the more recent "Grid" – displayed in September at the 3D Print Show in London – a series of microlight objects in polyamide shaped like crystal reticulums growing in organic structures. |
